The end of an era

It’s easy to pick up new responsibilities, but laying them down can be a real wrench. It was at the end of 2001 that God gave us a strong conviction that we were to start a youth home group, and it has been a great journey. I guess some might say “all good things must come to an end” – I don’t necessarily believe that, but we do believe it is time for us to hand over. We had our very last “official” meeting with our favourite young people on Saturday (silly photos below). As usual we shared a meal, had some fun, and looked into the Word together – this time the story of Mary and Martha – maybe an odd story to end with, but very relevant to our activity-overloaded young friends. The group will be continuing with new leaders after an interim period of a few months – we’re excited for them. Had the joy of seeing 5 in the group baptised this year, and many have made big steps with God. It will be odd not waking up on Sunday morning any more and having a couple of young people sharing our croissants for breakfast (we would nearly always have someone staying the night).
